A Lansing man sentenced to life for rape has lost an appeal to overturn his conviction.
The Michigan Court of Appeals denied Dontez Boykins, 27, a new trial but did direct Calhoun County Circuit Court Judge John Hallacy to clairify his sentence.
Boykins is serving a life in prison for kidnapping, 45 to 75 years for sexual assault and 7 years and 11 months to 15 years for assault by strangulation.
He was sentenced in September 2018 following his conviction by a jury for the March 25, 2017 rape of a 26-year-old woman in a Marshall motel.
