APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The alleged shooter in a Kaukauna murder pleaded not guilty Thursday.
Dontae Payne is charged with first-degree intentional homicide for allegedly killing Brian Porsche at a home on W. Division Street on March 30.
No trial date was set. He returns to court June 16 for a status conference.
Payne and Tanya Stammer allegedly went to the home to confront Porsche. He allegedly shot Porsche and the two made it look like a robbery before leaving the scene, according to the criminal complaint.
Stammer faces similar charges. Her attorney requested a competency exam, due to concerns about her mental ability to understand the charges and assist in her own defense. A judge ordered the psychiatric review, with the results to be discussed at a May 17 hearing.
