came to the economy. s how he was able to get democrats. that s how he did two points better with african-americ three points better but still in the basement with them. do you see the president as a uniter? it was an improvement over mitt romney, mr. milquetoast softy. romney is going to win in utah. he is running hard. lost in 2012. hta. well, fine. but listen, jason, part of the reason donald trump won was not only because he was a divider but because he had 16 other reans, traditional republicans who embraced traditional values who were stepping all over each other. i m not sure if it had been a one-on-one or a one-on-two that would have happened. it s a theoretical question, a hypothetical, but of course he s a divider. it s hard not to say he s no divider when you ve got a guy who equates neonazis with people protesting against them. if that s not divisive, i don t knowt is.
the new book is called time of our lives. it s a collection of your essays. what i love the most tim russert once said but the only predictable thing about noonan s column is its unpredictability. i told you one of the things i love most is a paragraph where it says our elites are lucky people. born in the suburb, went to yale and run the world from a desk which means great question immigration is going to be decided by what a bench, don t knowt is to to earn your space. embrace a new country who don t know what it is to feel you are a little on the outside and have to earn your way into the inside who think it was without cost because it was without cost for them. that s immigration is going to be a big issue. it sure is. it s not going away. there are some people on the ground in america who are thinking thoughts about the detachment of the debate from their real lives and maybe trying to connect the two. peggy, always nice to see you. great new book. thank you for joining us.
