have the supplies they need. they still don t have power. they still don t have running water. many of them still don t even have food. we saw people using bicycles as a way to get around town because so many of those bridges were taken down, actually by the ukrainian side to avoid allowing russian forces to get closer into the country and potentially, to the city of chernihiv. but all of this makes for a very tricky and frankly, quite desperate situation for these people who simply do not know when they will be fully united with the rest of the country. fully united as you saw with these women who continue to be apart from, jake. which they can create real desperation of life and limb. still ahead, another first hand report of the horrors.

now, crews are already prepositioned from florida and canada as well, just sitting here waiting to go out and fix these lines, but it could be a little while until the winds die down. they can t take their bucket trucks up if the wind is still going, and so, as the temperature plunges, we re dropping through the teens right now, heading to single digits overnight. that s going to be brutally cold for people who don t have power if they get their power through electrical means, and then also, whenever you deal with a storm like this, whether it s a hurricane or a blizzard, when people lose power, if they have generators, public officials really worry about people using those generators improperly, not venting them, and then having some sort of carbon monoxide poisoning so that s something we ll be watching out here. clean-up will take days, but they ve got the equipment to do it, and they re already trying to get some of this snow up as it continues to fall here, yasmin. hey, chris, j
from bishop auckland. the calm between the storms, after malik and before corrie. in south church, county durham, power has been off for a number of homes in this village since midnight. for racheljohnson, who farms at pigdon, near morpeth, it s the second time without electricity. she was last without power for 11 days following storm arwen in november. last time, we were off power for 11 days. we still haven t had all of the full compensation and expenses fulfilled and paid out by northern power grid, so i think we re in for situation normal a repeat of last time. engineers from northern power grid have been working through the night to try to restore supplies. the damage caused by the storm has really been to overhead power lines and infrastructure by the wind, so it has either dislodged some of our wires which are on top of wood poles where it s caused trees to fall into lines or windblown
