(applause) while many people might associate las vegas with gambling, this is a whole lot more. between the shows and shopping, there s something for everyone here. like the cities across the country, vegas had trouble and comments like these for the president didn t help the situation. responsible families don t do their budgets the way the federal government does. all right? when times are tough, you tighten your belts, you don t go buying a boat when you can barely pay your mortgages. don t blow a bunch when you re trying to pay for college. you prioritize, you make tough choices and it s time your government did the same. well, terry fader, robin leach and me are with the
meet some people that will get into the ballet. i couldn t afford to be seen coming out of it any way. don t worry about it. what are some of the hopes you have for vegas and future? i want everyone to come, this is a true story. my best friend, her daughter and her mother came. for three generations all had something they really enjoyed. so i think so many families coming my show and 21st birthdays, 60th anniversary. i think there is something for everyone to enjoy. it s an invitation but it s better to europe, you can t go to the eiffel tower and look down on rome. comedy superstar with rita ruddner, one of our favorites. thank you. my pleasure. you ve been playing vegas for many, many years, i ve asked a lot of people, tell me what s happened and changed over the years in vegas from your perspective. what do you think has been the most significant change? well, when i came, i think gambling was the thing everyone came to do and i first started doing my act here and people would laugh and go, ha, i los a lot of money, they stopped. couldn t get the rolling lather. now there are so many reasons to come to vegas, shop, eat at great restaurants and go to the spas and people in general are happier here and i have to say this is the great time to come to vegas because the deals are fantastic. i mean, my friends, they, they came last week, and they booked an ordinary room and got upgraded to a house
considered traditional tourism than it has about the gaming. absolutely, and i think that vegas we can be blamed for something, for instance, i think the restaurants some of them, they re great, but too expensive. i mean, we went to this one they didn t even have prices on the menus, just pictures of faces with different expressions of horror. (laughter) i think some of the crowd ate there. and they ve obviously been to that restaurant. so i do think this is a wakeup call for vegas, too, to get back to where we were. we were affordable vacation for people in america. [applause] and it was that the gaming industry subsidized a lot of things like food and lodging because people did more of the gaming. is that part of the reason we ve seen the shift to the prices? i think wall street has a lot to answer for, too, wanting to make money out of
