protesters calling for new leadership staged a sit-in in senator chuck schumer s capitol hill office. 17 protesters were arrested. yeah, mike joe, stop. how many of them voted? i am just telling you what schmitt told me three minutes after the election was over, and the key party is going to last longer and it s going to hurt the party more. they are going to get all the wrong lessons out of this campaign. joining us on capitol hill at least on the late-night comedy shows. kasie hunt joins us. good to see you. reporter: you, too. they do have that going for them, joe. it s everything, yes, the democrats are scrambled and the republicans are scrambled, too,
wrong with protests, are there? you re not suggesting people don t have a right to try to make their voice heard? you re not saying that, are you? no, i m not saying people do not have a right to protest. i m saying you have a right to vote, so i would have hoped that all of these if any of these protesters did not vote, i don t think they have a right to be i don t think they should be out there protesting if you did not vote. president obama always said, don t boo, vote. right. but you do have a right to protest, but it always should be peaceful, it always should be respectful, and it should always not include violence, especially at our law enforcement. that s inappropriate on either side. josh, you want to jump in and give us your thoughts? yes. first, i second your point that peaceful protesting is not only a right, it is patriotic and goes back to the foundations of our nation. but i want to go back to your earlier point, john, that i thought was great, that donald
tomorrow. look at katie mcginty s opponent, pat toomey. don t boo. vote. i ve given them credit for working with us on background checks, that 90% of americans support. but you know, that position rings hollow when he supports a republican leader, who blocked that bill. and it doesn t come close to making up for his repeated votes to give tax cuts to the wealthy, just like donald trump will. to block a higher minimum wage, just like donald trump will. to repeal the affordable care act, just like donald trump will. we do not need a trump/toomey economy. we need someone who s never forgotten her working class roots, the daughter of a restaurant hostess and a philadelphia beat cop. somebody who went to college with the help of scholarships and student loans. katie mcginty won t just be with you part of the way, she ll be with you all of the way and
