I wasn t exactly an expert at making friends when I was her age. In fact, I don t think I really figured it out until I got into my mid-30s. I m not even that sure I ve figured it all out now. But since it was a serious question, it deserved a serious answer, so I thought about it a bit.   It seems to me that the best way to make friends is to be a friend. Now, I know that sounds like something our grandmothers would say (or, at least, mine would), yet I think it captures the essence of making friends.

Love is a word often overused, but seldom understood   Will I ever love the way I used to? This question gets asked by many of the couples I work with in marriage counseling. One spouse or the other recognizes that he or she feels little, if any, of the love which was felt early on in the relationship.   What is love? It certainly is a word we use frequently. We can love Chicago-style hot dogs, our new car, a movie star, a place, etc. and then use the same word to describe the deepest feelings we have toward the most important people in our lives.

Calendar to celebrate differently-abled, raise funds for organisations working for their empowerment

Express News Service Titled Oddity: Don’t Bend, Don’t Blend, a calendar featuring six people with disabilities was launched recently to spread awareness about disability and raise funds for organisations working for the betterment of people with disabilities. Conceived by photographer Rishab Dahiya and his friend Purva Mittal, who has a neuromuscular genetic disorder known as Spinal Muscular Atrophy, characterised by weakness and wasting (atrophy) in muscles used for movement (skeletal muscles), the calendar features the latter, among five other Delhi-based people. Photographer Rishab Dahiya  Dahiya, who did the shoot, says, “I had been thinking of doing a calendar for long but I wanted it to be different and meaningful because launching a calendar holds a very important position in a photographer’s life.”
