  Dean of the School of Performing Arts at the University of Ghana, Professor Kofi Agyekum, popularly known as Opanyin Agyekum has called on government to begin public education on the COVID-19 vaccines. Ghana will receive her first batch of vaccines starting on Monday, March 1, 2021. Information Minister-designate, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah disclosed this during Conference and Donor Presentation for the Sustainable Development of Yendi Municipal Hospital on Sunday. According to Ghana’s Program Manager for the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), Kwame Amponsa-Akyianu, 20 million persons have been estimated to receive the vaccines from the first week of March. “Our vision as a country is to vaccinate the entire population. We are expecting a total of 350,000 COVID-19 vaccines to arrive in the country by Feb. 22 to pave way for the vaccination in the first week of March. The exercise will continue till October this year,” he stated.

  Deputy Communications Director, Mame Yaa Aboagye has applauded President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for accelerating the process of bringing Covid-19 vaccines into Ghana. She commended the President following the announcement by the Minister-designate for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah that the first batch of Covid-19 vaccines will arrive later today. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, speaking at the Conference and Donor Presentation for the Sustainable Development of Yendi Municipal Hospital said though I have another engagement on our COVID-19 vaccines that are arriving early [Monday] morning”. Mame Yaa emphasized that this extraordinary effort by the President to secure and protect the lives of Ghanaians was timely.
