NEW HAVEN, CT A 49-year-old former nurse from Oxford was sentenced to three years of supervised release and other penalties for stealing fentanyl from vials intended for patients at the Orange-based fertility clinic where she used to work, according to federal prosecutors.
In addition to the supervised release, Donna Monticone also must serve four weekends in jail, and three months of home confinement, ordered New Haven U.S. District Judge Janet C. Hall. She also surrendered her nursing license.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (CBSNewYork) A drug-addicted former nurse will spend only eight nights behind bars for a crime that caused unbearable pain to dozens of women.
As CBS2’s Tony Aiello reported Tuesday, Donna Monticone, 49, faced up to five years in prison for tampering with drugs. Instead, the mother of three will serve just four weekends behind bars, and three months home confinement.
“The people I represent are sensitive to the idea that this is a single mother,” said attorney Josh Koskoff.

49-year-old Donna Monticone, of Oxford, now faces up to 10 years in prison. As part of her responsibilities with the Yale Fertility Center, she ordered and inventoried a variety of narcotics used in outpatient surgeries to anesthetize patients.
