The digital archive features material that Popesku and other members of the community have collected over the years. Earlier this year, Donna Kane of the Peace Liard Regional Arts Council said Popesku kept everything related to Northeast B.C’s arts culture and heritage and had around 50 boxes of items.
The Peace Liard Regional Arts Council developed the website in partnership with the Fort St. John museum and has summer students digitizing a Popesku’s collection.
The website is still under construction, with new features and content to be available as development continues.
Popesku had her hands in everything arts and culture in the region, including working and volunteering with museums, arts councils, and the Fort St. John Hospital foundation. She was also a key piece in setting up the Fort St. John North Peace Museum in its current location.

ROLLA, B.C – Rolla’s Donna Kane is being recognized for having one of the best books published in Canada last year.
Kane’s poetry collection, Orrery, has made her a 2020 Governor General’s Literary Awards finalist. Her work orbits around the theme of Pioneer 10, an American space probe launched in 1972 to study Jupiter’s moons.
A peer assessment committee selected 70 Canadian books as the best in 2020 across 14 different categories. Kane is among five finalists in the poetry category. ),whenLoaded(initFlexitive);
The 2020 winners will be announced on June 1st after last year’s awards were postponed due to the pandemic. The regular schedule will resume with the 2021 finalists and winners being revealed this fall.

Renowned poet Anne Carson and author Thomas King are among the veteran writers nominated for the Governor General s Literary Awards.
Each will face stiff competition from a rising class of wordsmiths to clinch the $25,000 prize in their respective categories.
Organizers named the finalists for the 2020 awards, which are administered by the Canada Council for the Arts, on Tuesday â several months later than the usual fall announcement.
