Boeheim’s Army survived a second round scare in The Basketball Tournament on Monday night. The group of Syracuse Orange men’s basketball alumni advanced to the Super 16, taking down Team Heartfire by a final score of 68-62. Boeheim’s Army now advances to play the winner of Always a Brace/Jackson TN Underdawgs. That game tips Wednesday at 9 pm and will air on ESPN2.

Syracuse s Jim Boeheim Has No Plans to Retire as He Lauds Duke Coach K s Impact on College Sports

Following the news of Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski s impending retirement, Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim clearly stated his plans, telling a reporter on Thursday, I have said it and I ll say it once again: I have no plans to retire.
He made his comments to the Syracuse
Post-Standard, letting the paper know that even though at age 76 he s two years older than Krzyzewski, aka Coach K, he s not ready to call it a career yet. Boeheim will instead stay on to coach his two sons this college basketball year when it begins in November. He also noted that his time as coach of the Syracuse Orange will extend beyond the 2021-22 season.

Syracuse trailed early in this game (what else is new?), was substantially outrebounded and yet still owned a 34-28 halftime advantage. The Orange built a second-half lead, then withstood a big UNC push in the closing minutes. Final score: SU 72, UNC 70.
