Lima couple injured in Wednesday evening traffic crash
LIMA A Lima couple suffered non-life-threatening injuries when their vehicle was struck by a semi Wednesday evening.
Troopers from the Lima post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol were dispatched shortly after 6 p.m. to the accident on U.S. 30 at Thayer Road. According to the report, a vehicle operated by David Burkhart, 59, of Lima, was southbound on Thayer Road and failed to yield at a stop sign. Burkhart’s vehicle was struck by an eastbound semi-tractor-trailer operated by Bryan Steininger, 33, of Plano, Illinois.
Burkhart suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by Beaverdam EMS to Lima Memorial Health System, Lima. A passenger in the vehicle, 64-year-old Donna Burkhart, of Lima, suffered serious injuries and was transported by Cairo-Monroe Township Volunteer EMS to the Lima hospital. Burkhart was cited for failure to yield at a posted stop sign.
