The 2021-2022 Ascension Fund awarded Beth Bourgeois for her $1,000 Teacher Grant titled "Level Up! Reading," funded by the Claude & Carolyn Songy Endowment.
In an effort to hire more highly-qualified, certified teachers in its Donaldsonville schools, the Ascension Parish School Board approved Supplemental Pay for the 2022-23 school year at Donaldsonville High, Donaldsonville Primary, Lowery Elementary, and Lowery Middle schools.

Ascension Parish Public Schools announced the school and district winners of its Support Personnel of the Year for 2020-21: Kim Harvey from Lakeside Primary is the Primary School Support Person of the Year, Marcus Jones from Dutchtown Middle is the Middle School Support Person of the Year, and Alison Clingfost from Dutchtown High is the High School Support Person of the Year.
All support personnel were selected by their respective school peers and were recognized at this week s Ascension Parish School Board Meeting. No matter where they are, our children deserve excellence at every touchpoint, and I am just so grateful to be a part of a group of people like this, Superintendent David Alexander said. You have all done such an amazing job in getting us all the way through this school year. It s just incredible. You, our support staff of the year, are models of teamwork and service. Ascension Public Schools announces the Teachers of the Year and Principals of the Year for 2020-21. These top educators were selected by their respective school peers. In the spring, all honorees will be recognized at an Ascension Parish School Board meeting, where the district will name a top teacher for primary, middle, and high school divisions. The district honorees will go on to compete for the state s 2022 Teacher and Principal of the Year section in the summer. Teacher of the Year is quite an honor, and all of these wonderful educators deserve this special recognition.
