politicized his department has become. in that washington post story, the white house praised mcaleenan s job performance but they did not say why it has not nominated him for secretary. that will do it for me this hour. ali velshi is back in new york. he didn t want us to get through that. just closed his book and left. i m a little puzzled something hasn t happened about him. he spoke to the washington post and mentioned in that new york times story about the explosive meeting that donald trump had about immigration. at some point, there aren t a lot of examples of people who are noted in the media to have taken exception to something that donald trump has done or some of his policies who end up remaining in their position particularly when they re not actually confirmed to those positions. kevin mcaleenan would be an easy guy for president trump to get rid of. fascinating he s still riding the bull. i ve spoken with some asking that very question. when is it going to be hi
get information for his investigation, which i think he was hoping would be viewed semi-independently. it s being run by the department of justice. a very respected u.s. attorney is at the head of that investigation and i think he understands that what has happened with this ukraine situation that it fully tarred his work, too, with a partisan brush. you know, i think he might have been a bit naive if he had believed that it might be held out as independent even before this and he certainly understands what has happened to the durham investigation because of how this ukraine work is now viewed. i know all these headlines can sever to only make this all the more confusing. what is at the heart of the impeachment matter is the phone call between the president and the president of ukraine asking him to investigate corruption and those two corruption cases you wanted to find out one about the chief political opponent and one of them in 2020 and the other about what happened in 2016. two

past few years. isis has been trying to regain strength in both syria and iraq. and i mentioned earlier that some u.s. troops had left since president trump made that decision since last september. in that time there have been efforts and gains. but they have been able to try to reestablish groups to try to grow an insurgency. u.s. military continues to do air strikes in syria and continue to go after isis and stop any kind of flow with the military will often call lines of communications and flow of isis fighters throughout different parts of the country. they re working to stop those lines of communication. you know, one thing, there has been this tension between the united states and syria that has existed, predates the trump administration absolutely. but there has been, you know,
