BATON ROUGE - Rouses co-owner Donald Rouse Sr. issued a public apology during a radio interview Friday, about two weeks after he was photographed at a pro-Trump protest that ended with rioters inside the U.S. Capitol.
Rouse told WBOK in New Orleans that he exercised poor judgment in attending the rally on Jan. 6, which eventually turned violent when protesters stormed the Capitol building and interrupted lawmakers who were in the process of confirming the results of the presidential election.

LSU Board of Supervisors member Collis Temple Jr says the university should look at ending its relationship with Rouses Supermarkets because of co-owner Donald Rouse Sr’s participation in a pro-Trump rally before the riot on the U.S. Capitol. Temple says Rouse’s presence at the rally reflects poorly on LSU.
“Since Rouses and LSU have an exclusive arrangement, the public which LSU serves can view that relationship as being that of two entities with the same world view,” said Temple Jr.
Rouses is the official supermarket of LSU.
Donald Rouse Sr. said he attended a rally in Washington D.C. on January 6th as a supporter of the President and to be in the nation’s capital at the close of his presidency, but was at his hotel room when the Capitol was stormed by an angry and destructive mob.
The Louisiana State University Athletics Department said photos of a supermarket chain owner at the Washington, DC protest last week was “deeply troubling,” but had no comment if it would sever ties with the corporate sponsor.
According to WBRZ, Rouses Supermarkets co-owner Donald Rouse Sr. was photographed at the DC rally alongside his company’s former HR director.
But Rouse denies any participation in the mob which stormed the Capitol Building.
“I attended the rally yesterday as a supporter of the president and to be in our nation’s capital at the close of his presidency,” Rouse said in a statement.
