CHICOPEE – The School Committee selected a new vice chairwoman after years of having the same two people serve in the position.
Long-term member Mary-Elizabeth Pinak-Costello was voted in unanimously Wednesday night. She will replace Marjorie Wojcik, who has served in the position for many years. Member Donald Lamothe has also served as vice chairman for several terms.
Member James Tanhauser Jr. was nominated for the position as well, but in the end, he did not even vote for himself. Tanhauser said he had talked to a few members about taking over as vice chairman but decided to support Pniak-Costello, saying she is very active on the committee and would do a good job.
