Muscatine, IA- Authorities have identified the victim of a Muscatine County murder as the wife of the suspect following a tip from police in Florida. TV Station WQAD reports that, at about 9 AM Monday, August 15th, dispatchers received a call from the North Palm Beach Florida Police Department, saying they received a tip off to a potential murder at a rural home near Montpelier, in rural Muscatine County. The sheriff's Office reported Tuesday, that 74-year-old Christine Briegel was found dead in a home in the 3700 block of Midway Beach Road. Authorities identified the suspect as 79-year-old Donald Briegel, who was found dead by police in North Palm Beach from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The couple traveled between houses in Iowa, Florida, and Tennessee. The incident is being investigated as a murder-suicide.
