Your ace train number 1 did leave on time this morning im watching a developing story this morning, investigators have now revealed the amtrak train that derailed in Washington State was speeding, going 80 Miles Per Hour in a 30 mile per hour zone. Three people were killed and Dozens Injured on a track that was just recently upgraded. This morning we are hearing the who a heroic stories of those who rushed in to help as the train dangled over a busy freeway. Maggie rulli is live with more on this story. Good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. Good to be with you. Im annemarie greene. The National Transportation safety board says preliminary data says the amtrak train that derailed was going 80 miles an hour in a 30mileperhour zone. At least three people were killed as it hit a new bypass just south of seattle. More than 70 were injured when 12 train cars and a locomotive jumped the rail, some cars falling to the road below. Immediately after the derailment, the conductor called for help. We were coming around the corner to take the bridge there over i5 and we went on the ground. Is everybody okay . Im still figuring that out. We got cars everywhere and down on to the highway. The ntsb says its not known what caused the train to derail and its too early to know why it was going so fast.
