A New Jersey school that bills itself as the only college preparatory boarding and day school for young women who learn differently will be closing its doors at the end of this school year.
Officials for Purnell School, an independent, not-for-profit private school established 57 years ago in Pottersville a community that straddles Hunterdon and Somerset counties announced on Wednesday that the school will close on June 30 due to “challenges related to the competitive landscape.”
“Though we continue to believe Purnell School offers a unique learning platform that successfully supports individual student needs, we lack the funds necessary to make the significant changes that would sustain and strengthen our program in order to remain competitive into the future,” said Martha Gallo, co-chair of Purnell School’s board of trustees, in a
