But it wasn t a candidate for condemnation at that time. Then when the complaint resurfaced (this year), we went back out, Stone said. The solarium over the pool had been destroyed, and the house was wide open. That’s when we moved forward with the condemnation.”
The property owners could have chosen to secure the property and fill in the pool, Stone said, but they moved ahead to demolition.
“I don’t know – maybe they just felt the property was more valuable to just remove it at that point,” Stone said. “It is a big chunk of land.”
County tax records show the property has an assessed tax value of $1,079,400, although the building has a value of $0. It sits on 9.95 acres.
