cnn newsroom. i m jim acosta in washington on a very busy news night. we begin this hour with breaking news out of southeast georgia. this is a look at the massive plume of smoke in the town of brunswick, georgia. people who live within a half of a mile of this are being ordered to evacuate their homes at this hour. it s a fire at the panova manufacturing plant. you can just see some of these images now are the plume is just massive of fire broke out there earlier this morning and was thought to be contained after three hours, but this afternoon that glenn county board of commissioners posted on facebook that the panova plant fire has reignited and the evacuation order was put in place. you can see some of the images coming in from the scene, just showing some of the danger to the community there. it includes parts of the resort community of st simon s island. which of course, is a big holiday destination for people in that part of the country will keep an eye on all of this.
breaking news. hello i m alex marquardt in washington. thank you so much for joining us today. we do begin with breaking news in the donald trump hush money investigation. we re learning that the manhattan grand jury that has been hearing the case is set to take a break for up to a month and may not hear evidence again until the end of april. let s get straight to cnn s caress canal in new york, keira. this comes after the former president. he predicted that he was gonna be indicted last week. but now, if that indictment comes, it may not be for several more weeks. alex. so we re learning from a court administration source that the grand jury has a scheduled break for the holidays and that they will be breaking after april 5th. that s next wednesday and they would return later in the month of april. what is not clear is whether this grand jury which normally sits on mondays, wednesdays and thursdays, will hear evidence about the trump case before they take that break. they ar
the justice department has just issued a scathing and disturbing report on the louisville police department nearly two years after a nearly two year civil rights investigation. now, attorney general merrick garland launched this probe in the months after the louisville police shot and killed an unarmed black woman, breonna taylor inside of her home. a short time ago garland explained that that botched raid in march of 2020 was part of a practice of abuses by the city. the pd leader told the department breonna taylor was a symptom of problems that we have had for years. the justice department s findings in the report that we are releasing today bear that out. and listen to this, these are just some of the very ugly examples that garland cited today. the justice department has also identified deficiencies in lmpd s response to and investigation of domestic violence and sexual assault. lmpd has relied heavily on pretextual traffic stops in black neighborhoods. some have vi
