These Christmas presents may arrived a little late, but were certainly a welcome surprise for the Renovo Area Public Library last week. The Berkshire Hathaway Energy Gas Transmission and Storage company (formerly Dominion Transmission) donated salt to help assist the library keeping their walks and driveways safe for the remainder of the winter season. Making the unexpected donation even better for the library was when Tony’s Hardware owner Travis Fantaskey, at left, and his helper Kyle Grey delivered the salt directly to them. The library and board were sincerely thankful for the generosity of BHE. BHE also donated salt to the Bucktail Medical Center and The Renovo chapter of the Salvation Army.
WVDNR announces leased section of Sand Hill WMA sold by owners
PARKERSBURG, W.VA. A 967-acre portion of the Sand Hill Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Wood and Ritchie Counties, which was formerly under a lease arrangement between the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) and Dominion Transmission, Inc., has been sold and is no longer part of the WMA. Effective January 1, 2021, public access is no longer permitted in this section. The remaining 1,880-acres of Sand Hill WMA in Pleasants and Ritchie Counties, which was recently purchased by the WVDNR with assistance of The Conservation Fund, remains open to public access, hunting and other forms of wildlife-associated recreation.
