LOWELL A case that kicked off with the resignation of an elected School Committee member back in February 2021 has resurfaced. Roland Milliard, the attorney representing Dominik Lay, the next-in-line candidate whose seating was contested by the city due to residency concerns, has filed a tort claim against the city for $100,000.
LOWELL At the Aug. 16 School Committee meeting, Wendy Crocker-Roberge, the newly appointed interim chief schools officer, briefed the members on a six-point school reopening report, which included updates in the key focus areas of administrative staffing, school-based staffing, facilities preparation, technology deployment, curriculum provisioning and transportation.
LOWELL After nearly five hours of interviews with both internal and external candidates, the School Committee decided to stay in-house and selected Chief of Schools Liam Skinner as the interim superintendent of schools.
LOWELL The School Committee will interview interim candidates for the superintendent position on June 24 to replace Superintendent of Schools Joel Boyd, who has served the district since 2019.
LOWELL The law firm hired to conduct an independent investigation into allegations of unfair or unlawful hiring practices in the Lowell Public Schools both provided to and received from the School Committee some clarifying guidance on the process at its Wednesday meeting.
