ICYMI: Full Time High School In Class Learning On Hold

Just a reminder to parents and high school students. A decision was made over the weekend by Public Health to postpone the return to full time in class learning, that was expected to resume April 12th. This applies to high schools across the province. They will continue with blended learning, with one day in class, and the next at home. Public Health says this was done to allow more time to conduct contact tracing and ensure current COVID-19 outbreaks are under control. Cabinet and the all party cabinet committee on COVID-19 will revisit this decision during the week of April 26th.

ICYMI: Full-Time High School In-Class Learning On Hold

Just a reminder to parents and high school students. A decision was made over the weekend by Public Health to postpone the return to full-time in-class learning that was expected to resume Monday, April 12. This applies to high schools across the province. Public Health says this was done to allow more time to conduct contact tracing and ensure current COVID-19 outbreaks are under control. The Anglophone South School District says as a result, families who received notification of bus route changes can ignore them. The original mask requirements will also remain in place. Students in kindergarten to grade five are not required to wear a mask on the bus, while students in grades six to 12 must wear a mask when seated with another student outside of their household, or when physical distancing is not possible.

Fifteen of the cases were in the Edmundston region (Zone 4), two were in the Fredericton region (Zone 3), and there was one each in the Moncton (Zone 1) and Saint John (Zone 2) health regions. Officials also announced the province’s 33rd COVID-related death involving a person in their 70s in the Edmundston region. Dr. Jennifer Russell, the chief medical officer of health, said Public Health is assuming all new cases of COVID-19 are the new “highly infectious” variants going forward. Russell said these variants are in Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia and are straining Public Health resources, particularly in New Brunswick’s Zone 4.
