Attention bookworms - here are some reading events to keep you busy in April

Writers Donal Ryan and Alex Barclay, actor Emmet Kirwan and musician Brigid Mae Power will all also feature in the programme. Due to the pandemic, all events will be hosted online and complimentary copies of the book will be distributed to health care workers via libraries in hospitals across Dublin. For the rest of the public, copies of Leonard and Hungry Paul are available to borrow from all public libraries nationwide, through the free BorrowBox library app, and in hardcopy when libraries re-open. 27 January 2021   Hackney LBC chief executive Tim Shields is to retire at the end of May after more than 40 years working in local government. An accountant by background, Mr Shields joined Hackney in 2002 as corporate director of finance and resources and has been chief executive since 2007. Prior to joining Hackney he held roles at Wandsworth and Lambeth LBCs as well as Epsom & Ewell BC. During his time at Hackney, the council has moved from being one of the most poorly performing in the country to one of the best and was voted LGC’s Council of the Past 20 years in 2016. Recruitment for Mr Shields successor will begin soon.
