ILIGAN CITY – The commanding officer of three soldiers, who were ambushed on January 14 at a river in Lanao del Norte, became emotional at the necrological service for his men on Friday, January 15, at the Second Mechanized Brigade Chapel.

Domingo Dulay Jr. in his tribute to his men Corporal Bryan Binayug of Solana Cagayan Valley; Corporal Albert Saura of Maitum, Sarangani; and Private First Class Albert Soriano of Lingayen, Pangasinan.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 14) Four dead bodies were found along the boundary of Poona Piagapo and Pantao Ragat, Lanao del Norte Thursday morning, the military said.
According to reports, three of the victims were members of the 43rd Mechanized Company stationed at Tangclao Detachment, Poona Piagapo. The other victim is a still unidentified civilian.
All four were found with gunshot wounds, authorities said. The shooting incident happened at around 8:45 a.m., according to Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan Jr., Commander of the Western Mindanao Command. Based on the report, our troops from the 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion received an information from a civilian informant regarding a shooting incident in the boundary of Poona Piagapo and Pantao Ragat, Lanao del Norte, Vinluan said.

ILIGAN CITY A New People’s Army squad leader surrendered to the troops of the 41st Mechanized Company at Purok Poblacion, Barangay Rogongon here on Monday.
Western Mindanao Command commander Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., identified the NPA leader as Ilan Talha Binongkasan, a.k.a. King, the squad leader of Squad Uno, Platoon Dos, Ace Company, Sub-Regional Committee 5, North Central Mindanao Regional Command.
Talha handed over one 5.56mm M16 Elisco rifle with three magazines and 78 rounds of ammunition.
On Monday afternoon, Taha was presented to 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade Commander Brig. Gen. Facundo Palafox IV, and 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Domingo Dulay at the 2Mech brigade headquarters in barangay Maria Cristina, this City.
