Biennial report details 18 homicides, patterns of violence from 2014 through 2019 Share Updated: 8:23 AM EDT Apr 29, 2021 The Maine Attorney General s Office released a new report detailing data on domestic violence in the state. The report, which is published every two years by the Domestic Abuse Homicide Review Panel, outlines details of the deadly patterns of violence from 2018 through 2019. In that time, the panel identified 18 cases where a person was killed by a romantic partner or a family member. Five of the victims were children. Gov. Janet Mills got personal during a Wednesday press conference about a new report from the state s Domestic Abuse Homicide Review Panel.
She described a young woman who was in an abusive relationship with a man that was an alcoholic and one night held a gun to her head. Mills says the woman packed her bags and left.
“That woman went to law school, she became a prosecutor, later Attorney General and now is the Governor of the State of Maine. I will never forget that night, and I will always know I was one of the lucky ones, Mills said during the event at the State House.
