business owners. i m happy to hear these stories. working here in ohio. everywhere from key corp who raised their minimum wage to smuckers who gave everybody a $1,000 bonus. all these things. but you know, it s not the big companies either. because the small companies, the little companies are doing just the same thing. 7 person business gave bonuses to their employees. small business, we have the first federal community bank in dover, thousand dollar bonus. it s working but you know what the greatest story is, when i walk into a restaurant and somebody walks up to me and says thank you. thank you because i got a couple
republicans talk about the tax cut issue, they are going to try and connect it to growing economy, we have a long way to go before we know who controls the house. jillian: how much do you think the recent crumbs comment will be hurting nancy pelosi? you will hear an awful lot. she was talking about tax cut and 3 million people got a thousand dollar bonus and other people are getting jobs, good things are happening because of that tax. jillian: current senate balance power, how do you think this will play out? right now democrats need to flip two seats to win control and that sounds manageable and they are defending ten seats, there s only a couple of real take away opportunities for the democrats. jillian, we are talking about in the sports world you focus on what are you watch in a key game, three races to watch in the battle for the senate. jillian: democrats need to win all three of these.
a result of that i think that the democrats are now scrambling because they pretty much universally canned this tax bill all of a sudden everybody from tyson foods to cvs to wal-mart which actually probably wasn t necessarily a reaction to the tax cut but nonetheless, you re seeing all across-the-board because now, when one company is increasing wages everybody else wants to do it. neil: now the question is given whether they continue to but what did you think of nancy pelosi? i haven t had a chance to talk to you about this who referred to the thousand dollar bonus as crumbs or a joke or whatever. do you think that was a mistake to characterize that? i do and i ve said this publicly before and i have a lot of respect for leader pelosi as a fellow italian american but if you come to places like ohio guess what? we re not san francisco. a thousand dollars goes a long way for people in my communities that, you know the places that i m from. that is a significant impact and difference so
brian: thank goodness for the ring door h doorbell. can yocan you see the cow choppering down on mail outside the home. the dad running at the animal as if he just put fear aside. hits plan works. the cow runs off with the piece of mail though in its mouth. steve: hey, weight. that s the publisher s clearing house. ainsley: or that thousand dollar bonus. a wild ride on wall street the dow ending with the small decline after going all over the place what can we expect today? stuart varney joins us live. stuart? okay. we are calming down. that s a brave thing to say. but at this moment i can definitely say it. in the first two days of the week, we had really wild 1,000 point swings up and down tune of a thousand points. yesterday that was limited to 500 points up and down. today we ll open pretty flat. i don t know how we are going to close, but the panic sector of this development, that s over.
carley: well, pays to win but you also have to pay if you win. rob: here comes the bad news, tracee carrasco from sister network fox business with what the newest super bowl winners will be paying on tax bill for winning the game, hey, tracee. good morning, guys, the philadelphia eagles will get 112,000-dollar bonus but as you said they are going to pay uncle sam but the good news here it is a little less than what they would have had to pay with old tax code, $41,000 in federal taxes, that s down from 44,000, so a little savings there but then they also still have those minnesota state taxes that they ll have to pay as well which they are pretty high there in the state of minnesota. carley: i don t think i think they will be okay. carley: one of the things people like to talk about is commercials, which two players start in hilarious nfl
