this, and they mar civil rights, and they helped to get the civil rights laws passed in the 1960s reconstruct and brought back to life. they did not leave it to other people, but they did it themselves, and the the muslim community is going to have to do it themselves. we are out of time, and you are right, and we could talk about this all of the time, and we didn t even get into guys like ted kaczynski and other white guys who had this, and i know it is a hard day for you, jeffrey, so thank you for this. jeffrey lord, thank you for joining me live. and my next guest says that trump s sentiments are not only offensive, but it is demagoguery, and our next guest is a fellow at the institute for social policy, and understanding. so, there are a lot of trump defenders and supporters either out at the rallies or like jeffrey wo aho are trying to pu fact to this argument, we are at
to rebuke donald trump. sara, quickly, can you button it up in a couple of seconds, because we talked about the core base of supporters that back donald trump no matter what, but he polls consistently high, an polls constantly high, and effectively, if you are looking the the latest number from the cnnorc poll, you can see that 1 in 3 republicans support donald trump, and this is way beyond a core base of supporters, hasn t it, sara? yes, and we are waiting to see where the creeiling is, and the one risk that trump has at this point is are you trying to win iowa or the presidency? look, the things that he says might resonate well with the n conservative base and broaden that beyond what we thought, but it is really hard to carry a message like this into a broader electorate and into the general election, and if you win the republican nomination, that is what you have to do, you have to be the president of all americans, and that includes muslim americans.
and they are standing with donald trump. randi kaye had a chance to do something fabulous go out to speak with them, several of them outside of mr. trump s appearance last night in mount pleasant, south carolina. reporter: as the reporters waited in line to hear donald trump speaking, words spread about his latest idea, banning all muslims from entering the u.s. donald trump is aing that muslims should not be allowed to enter the country until the u.s. figures out what is going on. do you agree? yes, i do. reporter: why? who knows what they are going to be bringing into the country, isis, and who knows. reporter: and he is not the only person calling for a complete and total shutdown of the muslims coming into the u.s. and in fact, nobody here that we spoke with had a problem with plan. it is a prudent idea and it is due diligence when he has made that statement, because we have to protect the american citizens first, and the whole vetting process lacks sbeg ri the ti.
huz muslims entering the united states. take a breath. let it sink it in. and it may well be mr. trump s most outrageous pronouncement of the campaign to date which is saying a hell of a lot, that the candidate says that the alternative is going to lead to many more 911-type attacks v. a listen. i am talking about a temporary situation until our country s representatives can figure out what the hell is going on, chris. the timing is irrelevant. listen, we had the world trade center number one, and world trade center number two, and we have had many other things happening, and then the other day, we had the california attack where where these two anal malls, and total animals becoming radicalized wanted to do far more damage than that, and what is more disturbing if you are looking into the future is that other people knew what they were doing, and pipe bombs
somebody just needs to go in there and take control of this. it is going rampant and i m worry ared about america. worried about our safety, and they are getting in, and they need to be stopped. at a november rally, trump had some of the strongest words yet. we have to go and we have to knock the [ bleep ] out of these people. why is he the guy? he has the guts to do it, and he can build a coalition of other people to take them on as well. and one other note, even though donald trump does not have political experience and he has not taken a country to war and been in charge of a country at wartime, the people i spoke with still say they believe that he is the guy who can combat isis and wipe out eisis, and noe of them reallied had any idea as to why or how they believed that when i pressed them, but they believe wholeheartedly that he is the only one, the only candidate who can get the job done. randi kaye, cnn mount pleasant,
