Artists add striking murals to Doha’s walls for Qatar Museums’ public art initiative  03 Jan 2021 - 15:09 The Peninsula Doha: Over the past month, Qatar-based artists have been making their mark on designated walls across Doha as part of Jedariart, Qatar Museums’ public art initiative to activate shared urban areas and add meaning to the city’s walls through curated murals and street art. The public art initiative, held in partnership with The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places, Q-Rail, and Woqod and Fire Station: Artist in Residence invited eighteen Qatar-based artists to breathe new life into walls in various locations across the city with murals that shine a light on a variety of topics and spark constructive debate.

Anyone who happens to visit Al-Abraj Park these days is most likely to feel delighted and welcomed seeing Al Malik’s latest mural depicting a woman in Batoola - a golden metallic-looking face covering traditionally used by older women in Qatar - carrying an incense burner. Using lively colours, Al Malik puts his personal touch and a modern twist to the traditional elements in his piece.

VCUarts Qatar alumni, student bring 22M-wide public artwork to life  14 Dec 2020 - 10:37 The 22-metre-wide artwork created as part of a public art project called “Jedariart.” The Peninsula Doha: Those driving through the Doha Festival City Interchange are in for a visual treat – a giant mural designed by Michael Perrone, Assistant Professor, Painting + Printmaking (PAPR), Virginia Commonwealth School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar), a Qatar Foundation (QF) partner university, and executed by alumni and a student from the campus. The 22-metre-wide artwork was created as part of a public art project called “Jedariart”, a collaboration between Qatar Museums, The Supreme Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places, QRail, Woqod, and the Fire Station: Artist in Residence. The initiative invited artists from diverse backgrounds and talents to create murals and street art across designated public spaces in Qatar, with the aim to make art more accessible to
