Interior Health said yesterday that Kelowna General Hospital now has six cases of Covid-19: five patients and one staff, with one death connected to the outbreak. There were 395 new cases reported in BC yesterday which included 24 in Interior Health. There were 228 people in hospital in the province, which included 62 in critical care. 101 people have died from the virus in I-H.
It was a wake-up call from Doctor Bonnie Henry during yesterday’s news conference. The Provincial Health Officer announced that three people in their 30s in BC have died from covid-19. She said that in at least 1 case there was an underlying illness, but did not say what it was or where the three young people lived. Dr. Henry said the majority of deaths associated with the virus are happening in acute care facilities.

There’s just under a week left for free public skating at Stuart Park. Warmer temperatures in the forecast are bringing the outdoor skating season to an end as the ice becomes more difficult to maintain. The last day to skate will be on Sunday, and a reminder that all skate times must still be booked in advance on Kelowna’s website here
The snow last week prevented West Kelowna crews from finishing their sewer main work on Glenrosa which means another closure for a couple of days. Once again it’s the northbound, or down hill lane that is closed at 7am today and possibly through tomorrow. The detour along Morningside and Yorkton is back in effect.
