On Saturday , Aug. 14, we will celebrate downtown entertainment with the fifth consecutive Music on the Bricks.
This is an annual all-local end-of-summer bash, showcasing the talent and ability of area performers, with food, refreshments and kids’ games, courtesy of the
North Platte Bulletin and friends.
It will start at 6 p.m. and continue to midnight.
There is something special about a fun late summer evening on the downtown streets. Proceeds support the local music scene as well as the children of our community.

The Freeport Light Industrial Park on Grand Bahama Highway was buzzing with activity on Saturday December 19, 2020 when 205 families in need, from settlements across Grand Bahama, were given a holiday package. The hampers included a ham, turkey, grocery staples, and ingredients for traditional Bahamian holiday sides. Toys were also given to families with children.
The festive drive-through event featured holiday tunes mixed by local DJ, “Daddy Steelie”.
Contractors Direct Ltd, which comprises the Do It Center, The Home Design Center and its newest addition Andiamo Ranch, along with Gold Rock Corporation Ltd were assisted by a generous donation from the Blessed Trinity Catholic Church of Ocala Florida for this event. Staff members of the companies eagerly volunteered their time to ensure that the distribution was able to take place efficiently. Anthony Kerekes
MARQUETTE, MI – Anthony J. “Tony” Kerekes, 49, of Marquette, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, December 19, 2020, surrounded by his family, at his home.
He was born March 28, 1971, in Toledo, Ohio, a son of Joseph and Kathleen (Hubscher) Kerekes. The family relocated to Marquette in his youth and he attended Marquette schools and was a 1989 graduate of Marquette Senior High School.
Years prior, Tony had worked at the former Johnson’s Sports Shop, the former Garden Room and the former Do It Center.
He played hockey, baseball and wrestled. He had a deep love of sports and was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Lakers, Cleveland Indians, NMU Wildcats, and Marquette Redmen. After an afternoon of cruising the Westwood Mall he would make his way next door to Big Daddys to watch the Passion Girls perform. He loved music and could sing most songs word for word, enjoying singing on stage on karaoke nights. One of his pass
