The Government of Canada has officially ordered the Antonov An-124 cargo plane seizure at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). The move comes as part of Canada's response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
The aircraft in question
The Russian-registered aircraft Antonov An-124, nicknamed Ruslan, belongs to a subsidiary of Volga-Dnepr Airlines LLC and Volga-Dnepr Group. The 26.7-year-old aircraft, registered as RA-82078, has been stranded at YYZ Airport since February 27, 2022, as per ch-aviation.com data.
