The Karnataka High Court will hear the writ petition filed by BJP MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal, who has challenged the withdrawal of consent for the CBI to probe DK Shivakumar, next on January 5.
The Court allowed Deputy CM DK Shivakumar to withdraw a plea against the CBI after being informed that the Congress-led State government has withdrawn consent granted by the earlier regime for a CBI probe.
The Congress-ruled Karnataka government has approved a proposal to withdraw a case being handled by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to look into alleged disproportionate assets owned by Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, sources said.
A Congress MLA has urged party high command to appoint three more Deputy CMs for ‘balancing castes’, which is seen as a bid by CM Siddaramaiah’s camp to checkmate Shivakumar.
