Over €1.1 million worth of cannabis seized in Monaghan and Louth 16:42 Sunday, 24 January 2021 Share it Gardaí carried out searches for the drug in Monaghan and Louth yesterday afternoon.  Cannabis with an estimated value of €1.1 million was seized as part of a garda operation in the north east yesterday. The searches were conducted in Monaghan and Louth. Gardaí also seized a firearm and €100,000 in cash, which is suspected to be gained criminally. They have arrested a 29-year-old man and 26-year-old woman on suspicion of drug trafficking. The pair are being held at Carrickmacross Garda Station in Monaghan. Gardaí from GNDOCB supported by the Garda Dog Unit have seized approximately €1,120,000 of cannabis during searches in Monaghan & Louth earlier today.

Man arrested after drugs bust on the northside By Kevin O Mahony A man has been arrested, following a drugs bust on the northside. It happened yesterday at around 9 o clock last night when Gardaí attached to the Divisional Drug Unit conducted a surveillance operation on the Greencastle Road in Coolock. During the course of the exercise, a man in his 30 s was stopped and searched. Eight large bags of suspected cocaine, weighing around 1 kilo, were found concealed in his possession.  The drugs are said to have a street value of up to 65-grand. The man was arrested by the Guards and taken to Coolock Garda Station, where he s currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
