Macuata Muslim League President, Hazeem Hussein, has cleared the air regarding Sunday morning’s fire incident at a prayer centre (Markaz) in Naqara, Taveuni.
Mr Hussein alleged that the fire incident started after three youths who were heavily intoxicated broke into the Courts Fiji outlet.
He alleged that the three played a part in the burning of a shop and the partially burnt prayer centre.

Three people have been arrested in relation to the burning of a shop and the compound of a mosque in Naqara on Taveuni yesterday.
This, according to Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu.
“There were two reports received which include the fi re incident at a shop in Naqara and outside the Macuata Muslim League Mosque,” he said.
“Both reports are under investigations and the Divisional Crime Officer North and a team of officers have been deployed to Taveuni to assist with the investigations.”

The Fiji Police Force and the National Fire Authority are currently investigating two separate fire incidents in Taveuni last night.
The first incident was in Naqara where a shop caught fire.
Police say they also received a report that the Macuata Muslim League Mosque was on fire and a team was deployed however the fire was already put out by a neighbour.
The Divisional Crime Officer North and a team from CID Labasa have been deployed to assist with the investigations.
