Mr Hussein alleged that the fire incident started after three youths who were heavily intoxicated broke into the Courts Fiji outlet. He alleged that the three played a part in the burning of a shop and the partially burnt prayer centre.

This, according to Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu. “There were two reports received which include the fi re incident at a shop in Naqara and outside the Macuata Muslim League Mosque,” he said. “Both reports are under investigations and the Divisional Crime Officer North and a team of officers have been deployed to Taveuni to assist with the investigations.”

The first incident was in Naqara where a shop caught fire. Police say they also received a report that the Macuata Muslim League Mosque was on fire and a team was deployed however the fire was already put out by a neighbour. The Divisional Crime Officer North and a team from CID Labasa have been deployed to assist with the investigations.
