Two suspects are being arraigned. Andrea grymes is live in bronx. Reporter well, chris, more than a dozen correction officers are in the courtroom right now as we speak for the arraignment, including the officer who was slashed, officer raymond calderon. We caught the officer standing outside the courtroom, his back was to us right before the arraignment got underway. Were told a group of inmates attacked him, all bloods gangs member and they were being arraigned here today. The Correction Department says this unprovoked assault happened around 4 30 yesterday afternoon at rikers island. Sources say while calderon was unlocking a cell, an inmate grabbed from behind and put him in a choke hold and others joined in, slashing him in the head and face. Were told as many as four of them.
