first female to regain the gavel. ed: there is a lot to unpack there start with the diversity question. conservatives have long criticized pelosi and other leaders for playing identity politics. i wonder when a democrat like seth molten said we need more women including women of color in congressional leadership. is that game of identity politics sort of boomeranging on the democratic leadership now. potentially that s going to be nancy pelosi has to deal with it this wrangling that she is already trying to do to get the speaker s gavel any indication what this next congress is going to look like she is in a lot of trouble. one thing that is really interesting, remember what we seen with the house freedom caucus and the difficulty of speaker ryan trying to keep republicans in line. nancy pelosi is going to have the same problem with the progressive caucus and estimates show they will have around 90 members this next congress. that is a very big voting block. for nancy pelosi try to e
of course prominent. you have a few, a sprinkling of other people. it s troubling to me that another person from a minority community, dina powell, who is a senior adviser to the president, who is arab, she s an egyptian captain coptic christian with arabic language skills. she s going to be leaving early on in 2018. the biggest lack seems to be with the african american community, and part of why that s so troubling is because so many things that the president has said, that have been offensive to that community specifically, and i m talking about not only what was said after charlottesville, that both sides had a role in that, but also the fights he s picked with gold star widow and mother of the man who was killed in niger. so it s vr troubling. you would hope there s someone there in the white house to talk to him and talk him down from those sorts of confrontations. daniel, i want to move away from the diversity question just a little bit and talk about the work that s happening
it, omarosa is part of a long list of staffers to leave this administration in the first year. 11 departures so far within the first year of this administration. what do you take away from that? what does this say about the state of thiss so far. what does this say? a lot of turmoil and clear in working with donald trump is not something that is the steadiest and easiest thing in the planet. particularly as a praes aex pre secretary and the have to contend with the president s tweets, very hard to defend, and so i think that you see a lot of turnover because of that, and just to get back to the diversity question. it s interesting that you have this white house has according to some studies diversity as richard nixon s white house, about 4%. compared to 14% in barack obama s administration and 10% in george w. bush s administration. minorities in the west wing serving in the west wing. so the president has said, or sarah sanders said the president is reaching out to senator tim
daylight savings time is come to an end this weekend tonight. 2:00 a.m. local time tomorrow it will turn back 1:00 a.m. we get to enjoy an extra hour of sleep. pete: tomorrow we will be awake and ready to go. nobody is going to be watching that first half. abby: we can do what we want. pete: president trump ramping up the pressure to end the new controversial immigration policy. not so new. it s been around for a while that the accused nyc terrorist used to come to the u.s. i m calling on congress to eliminate the diversity lottery program. it s a disaster for our country. this program grants visas not on the basis of merit, but simply because applicants are randomly selected in an annual lottery. it s a very unsafe program for our country and we re not going to allow it to happen. kevin: our next guest is no stranger to the diversity question. joining us now is fox news contributor david webb. david, welcome. abby: hey, david.
if i were i don t know, i think it s a stretch to say it s a magazine screen of record for anyone as a sometimes reader of it i can say. raffi williams on fox & friends on friday weighed in on what he want to say and why he weighed in on diversity question. take a listen. what s at issue here is i m trying to promote diversity of thought and diversity it s what made america great. what she is doing is saying if you were white i still would have dismissed your planes. i don t think it has anything to do with the point i was making and stand on their own. that s why conservatives were rallying around me yesterday. is because they saw this as a slit against conservatism. it s a slight against my ideology and i think that america is built for debated. it s the first amendment. meanwhile, ebony s apologies saying we are a marketplace of ideas and don t agree with those comments were meant with furor online on the left. ebony should not have apologized. we need more raffi wi
