That was how Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes described the actions of Elliott Joe Love, the boyfriend of British former model and reality TV star Zara Holland, who left his hotel without checking out, got into a taxi and headed to Grantley Adams International Airport in an attempt to flee the island, all the while positive for COVID-19. And while his financial situation was not the same as Holland’s, thereby negating a $12 000 fine, said Chief Magistrate Weekes, it certainly warranted one higher than $6 000. As a result, he fined him $8 000 in seven days or nine months in prison. The fine was paid, and Love, who was scheduled to leave the island yesterday, thanked Barbados’ medical staff.

Man apologises for assaulting girlfriend

Yesterday, he told the District “D” Magistrates’ Court he “felt bad about the matter because that is not usually me. I apologise to Ms Bourne for my actions and it will never happen again. I will stay away from alcohol”. McDonald, 40 and self-employed, of Upper Tudor Bridge, St Michael, had just admitted assaulting Tahirah Bourne on January 2. However, he denied assaulting and resisting Constable Kenroy Ashton on the same date. Prosecutor Constable Sayleen Hinds said the two had been a couple for about four years and were living together. Update: Elliot Love pleads guilty, fined $8000 for breaching quarantine

Love, the boyfriend of Former Love Island Star Zara Holland is accused of contravening Paragraph 14 of the Emergency Management  (COVID-19) Curfew (No.4) Directive in that being a person in quarantine at Sugar Bay Hotel did leave the premises without reasonable explanation on December 29. Love’s attorney-at-law Harry Husbands told the court that Love’s “situation is quite different from his girlfriend … he is a very normal guy . . . A demolition man”. After making an assessment of Love’s financial means, Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes fined him $8, 000 in seven days or nine months in prison. The fine was paid. He is scheduled to leave Barbados later today.
