MIRANSHAH: The target killers and violence mongers to create panic among the peaceful citizens would soon be taken to task in the district, officials said on Saturday.
Speaking at a press conference at Miranshah Press Club, Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali Khan and District Police Officer Shafiullah Khan said that certain elements, who have personal enmities, worn masks and killed their rivals, posing them as target-killing cases.
They said that saboteurs and criminals would be dealt with an iron hand and the peaceful citizens should not take law into their own hands.
They claimed that target killers and violence mongers would soon be exposed and arrested, who were involved in defaming institutions for their vested interests.

Filling station blown up in Waziristan

MIRANSHAH: An under-construction petrol pump was blown with explosives in Mir Ali subdivision of North Waziristan district on Sunday. District Police Officer Shafiullah Khan said that there were no fatalities but the blast caused damage to the building. He said the police were investigating the blast. Meanwhile, local tribal elders have demanded the government to resolve disputes among tribes in the region. They said the authorities must also ensure a ban on the display of weapons in the area.

MIRANSHAH: Khulli Kutchehry was held near the Pak-Afghan border in Ghulam Khan tehsil of North Waziristan tribal district on Wednesday.
Commissioner Bannu Shaukat Ali Yousafzai and Regional Police Officer Bannu Awal Khan presided over the open forum and was attended by Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali, District Police Officer Shafiullah Khan and heads of line departments.
“The people raised important issues such as restoration of Pak-Afghan transit trade, ease of movement at the border and provision of employment,” Commissioner Shaukat Ali told the media.
He said that the problems of all the backward areas would be solved on priority basis. He added that nine police stations were fully operational in North Waziristan and 200 police officials had already been deployed for the production of Pak-Afghan trade.
