Mayor Muriel Bowser has withdrawn her nomination of Karima Holmes to lead the District's Office of Unified Communications, her office confirmed Monday.
A hearing was held on Wednesday to discuss the issues and how to improve the District’s Office of Unified Communications after several issues have been reported with wrong addresses and a slower-than-expected implementation of recommended changes from the D.C. Auditor.
Last fall, D.C.'s auditor outlined 31 changes to the District's Office of Unified Communications to help first responders get to scenes quicker. In an update to that report on Friday, the auditor says most of those recommended changes haven’t happened.
911 calls show a possible 30-minute delay in getting DC police on the scene to help and David Earl Griffin's family believes his death could have been prevented.
