Amateur and professional mountain bike riders will have the opportunity to compete across the weekend at the Mackay and District Mountain Bike Classic.
Competitors will participate in races ranging from under eights to open-age events, with the course open for practice on Wednesday.
The two days will use different tracks, with Saturday’s course shorter but with greater inclines.
Mackay Regional Council Mayor Greg Williamson said the event was a great opportunity to increase the visibility of mountain biking and help the sports tourism industry.
“We can see the profitability in sports tourism,” Cr Williamson said.
