ISLAMABAD: The federal and provincial governments already spend billions of rupees every year on the development schemes of MPs, particularly those belonging to the treasury benches a fact that was not revealed to the apex court in the recent case about the PM’s announcement of development funds for the ruling party MPs.
Although, the case has been disposed of, official documents show the federal government has been regularly issuing tenders for ordinary development schemes in chaks, villages and UCs of the provinces.
These schemes include sewerage and drainage work, street/road construction, soling and PPC (plain cement concrete) work, etc. According to the law, these schemes are the responsibility of local governments and tehsil/district administrations. ISLAMABAD: The man who brokered a deal between Pakistan s anti-graft body and Broadsheet is himself wanted to an accountability court in Peshawar.
The official record of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) exclusively made available with Geo News revealed that Tariq Fawad Malik was declared a proclaimed absconder by the accountability court-IV, Peshawar, in 2009. His non-bailable arrest warrants were issued by the judge after the accused fled abroad.
The anti-corruption watchdog started an inquiry against Tariq Fawad Malik in 2006, the year before he was pursuing a settlement between NAB and Broadsheet in 2007, arguing that the British firm will sue for damages if the bureau does not seal the deal.
