With the roll-back in masking requirements from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on May 13, the resulting fallout could factually be coined mask confusion ; while the CDC s updated guidance that full vaccinated people can resume activities they did before the pandemic, including participating in indoor and outdoor activities - large or small - without wearing a mask or physically distancing , that ruling conflicted with numerous existing mask and social-distancing mandates from local, regional, state, and business entities. Surely the next few weeks will see a realignment from these organizations - and some have already started that process.

At its Monday, April 12, meeting, the Superior School Board will consider changes to the district’s employee handbook, including an updated salary schedule and removing the option for retirees to remain on the district’s health and dental insurance plans.
Board members had already agreed in March to increase the employee salary scale by the Consumer Price Index of 1.23%. At the Committee of the Whole meeting Monday, April 5, District Administrator Amy Starzecki said she plans to put forward an action item next week that will bump that increase to 2%.

Superior Schools Will Move to Hybrid Learning Model Next Month
After moving to distance learning in early November, Superior schools have announced they’re switching back to a hybrid model next month.

Starting January 11
th, all students at Superior schools from early childhood to 12
th grade will resume some onsite learning as the district switches back to a hybrid learning model.
Elementary students will be attending schools for four days a week while secondary will be going to two days a week for the hybrid plan.
What District Administrator Amy Starzecki says is that they noticed that moving to a virtual model did not have a direct impact on reducing the transmission rates in Superior. Even if transmission rates were high in the community, they were not seeing those same rates in the school setting.

SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Superior School District announced on Tuesday that they will be resuming on-site learning with COVID-19 prevention strategies in place next month.
In a letter from District Administrator Amy Starzecki, the details of the district’s COVID-19 Response Plan include:
Starting January 11, students will resume on-site learning with the hybrid model. This will allow for at least a 2-week window after the holidays to observe for any signs or symptoms of possible COVID-19 exposure during holidays. This is the last week of Semester 1 for SMS and SHS. This will allow those students to turn in class materials and put closure on Semester 1 classes in person.
