Controller Design for Grid Forming Inverter-Based Power Generating Sys by Md Minarul Islam, K M Muttaqi et al

While hitherto the synchronous grid is dominated by the synchronous generators (SGs), recently the grid-following inverter-based power generation systems (IBPGS) are increasingly being connected to the power grid, resulting in a slowly decreasing system total inertia impacting the operation of the power systems, in areas such as potential failures in the operation of phase-locked loops (PLLs), increased rate of change of frequency, contingency frequency control required during islanding conditions and problems associated with the system restoration capability. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop grid-forming IBPGSs to replace or support the grid-following IBPGSs. The grid-forming IBPGS works like an SG to maintain the voltage and frequency of the power system, while the grid-following IBPGS simply dispatches the requested active and reactive power based on the request signal. The paper presents a mathematical model of the SG and its associated controllers for use with the pro

New Findings in Electric Power Described from Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University (Existing Developments In Adaptive Smart Grid Protection: a Review)

114 views Energy Daily News 2021 FEB 03 (NewsRx) By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Energy Daily News A new study on Energy - Electric Power is now available. According to news reporting from Istanbul, Turkey, by NewsRx journalists, research stated, “The future smart power grid where Distributed Generations (DGs) are highly integrated and self-healing is required is intended to provide reliable and quality power in economic and environmentally friendly manner. This vision of the future power grid calls for a different solution in power system protection.” The news correspondents obtained a quote from the research from Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, “This demand arises from the dynamic condition of the future Smart Grid, which is why a large number of protection techniques and methods have been researched and implemented over the years. Especially, the research on adaptive power protection techniques is immensely growing, as it is very desirable for the power s
