Cleveland Teen Is Finalist In National Scholarship Competition Sunday, June 27, 2021
Taylor Schneider Taylor Schneider of Cleveland was named one of eight finalists Saturday in the Distinguished Young Women National Finals competition and awarded a $5,000 cash scholarship. Ms. Schneider also earned a $1,000 self-expression category award and $1,000 interview category award.
Following a selection process that began in her home state of Tennessee, Ms. Schneider began preparing for the 64th annual scholarship competition. Historically, the competition has taken place in its founding city of Mobile, Ala. This year, due to COVID-19 safety precautions, the competition was conducted virtually and is being showcased in a free three-night online broadcast at DYWNationalFinals.com.

High school junior young women who will be graduating in 2022 from across Michigan are invited to participate in the Distinguished Young Women of Michigan Scholarship Program. All interested participants can apply by going to www.distinguishedyw.org and clicking on “Apply Now.” Additional information and program details will be emailed to all interested applicants.
Participants are evaluated in the following categories: Scholastics (25%), Interview Skills (25%), Performing Arts Talent (20%), Physical Fitness (15%), and Self-Expression (15%). This transformative program will include life skills workshops including interview skills and mentorship programs.
The State Scholarship Program will be held virtually on Saturday, July 24, where thousands of dollars in college scholarships and college granted scholarships will be awarded.
