on monday, i asked you to consider how stupid the new florida law is that repeals disney s special state tax status in the state. i would not like to revise and extend my remarks, that it s much stupider than i thought. by monday, we realized that the repeal of disney s special tax and operating status for an amount that, the tax bill for public services provided in and around disney properties, was going to fall on the two counties in florida that surround disney park. that meant that $163 million burden was suddenly going to be shifted from disney and land on two to neighboring counties where the tax collector in one county estimated that property taxes would have to be raised by 25%. it is becoming clear tonight that that will probably never happen, because the new profoundly stupid law, will
72 hours. so help us understand what costs or services did disney pick up with this self-governing status? disney gets a special tax break or they re not paying their property taxes. disney pays the same property taxes that everybody else does in orange county. they pay their school taxes, they paid $40 million a year to orange county government last year, and then on top of that, they paid property taxes to that special district in order to provide services around the disney properties, like firefighting services. every time somebody had a car accident or a medical incident, think about the millions of people who visit disney every year, road maintenance, flood control. they have their own power plant, waste water, drinking water facilities. all of that debt and obligation goes over to orange county the minute that it is dissolved. there s no extra tax money that
disney properties, going to the parks, buying the food. yet they re appealing to, again, that person on twitter who may go there once every couple years to get some selfies with their friends to put on instagram. it is a horrible business move. and to focus on the hypocrisy of it all. where are these employees? are they not fired up that disney s trying to do business in about a dozen countries that prohibit home homosexuality? it seems like that s a great area to start. well, that s a great point. like, insulting us, right? we all know that they re maybe the only ones or they do and they just don t care. i m just not going to disney because i m cheap. i don t have kids yet. [laughter] [inaudible conversations] the prices have skyrocketed. yeah. what is it? i don t fit in the rides, so i never go. [laughter] you re a very large, strong man. 6-8, 348 pounds, they weren t
homes are not open yet. they re stuck here a while riding out the tides with all their friends and family at the hotels in and around the disney properties. speaking of disney, the most magical place on earth, behind me is one of the quietest places on earth today, because it is closed for the, only fourth time in its 45-year history, and each time it has been closed, it was because of hurricanes. many people coming on vacation, not what they want to hear. we ran into a group of people from wales, taking it easy, though. listen to this. what do you like when you see all of these rain and see all of this we re used to it. used to it. yes.
