External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Monday spoke on ways to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic, the situation in the Indo-Pacific region and cooperation in multilateral fora as they met on the sidelines of the G7 foreign ministers meeting in London.
The External Affairs Minister tweeted, Good to meet in person my old friend @SecBlinken. Detailed discussion on the global Covid challenge, focussing on expanded vaccine production capacity and reliable supply chains. Expressed appreciation for the strong US support to India at this difficult time, especially oxygen and Remdesivir. Our meeting also covered issues of Indo-Pacific, UN Security Council, Myanmar and climate change, he added.

MUMBAI: Describing the Covid-19 situation in the country as “unprecedented, almost war-like and nothing but total chaos”, Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut said that a two-day special session of Parliament should be convened to discuss the crisis caused by the pandemic. “It’s an unprecedented and almost a war like situation,” Raut tweeted on Monday. “Utmost confusion and tension everywhere! No beds, no oxygen and no vaccination as well! It’s nothing but total chaos!”
Later, while talking to the media, Raut said he had spoken with a few prominent politicians on the situation in their states and they agreed that the overall scene is grim. “The practice of hiding numbers in some states has stopped.now we can only see patients on the streets, pyres burning everywhere and no space in cemeteries.
