To embed, copy and paste the code into your website or blog: Nebraska has become the latest state to modernize its rules for taking depositions across state lines. The UIDDA is now effective in 43 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. On Jan. 27, the Nebraska Supreme Court adopted the Uniform Interstate Depositions and Discovery Act by amending Nebraska Court Rules 6-328 and 6-330(A) (PDF) dealing with discovery subpoenas. Nebraska court rules now set out in detail the process that must be followed when out-of-state litigators seek deposition testimony and evidence from a Nebraska resident. The new rules also include commentary and an example subpoena for attorneys to follow.

supreme court justice. it could happen this summer in a campaign year, why not? let s add more fuel to the fire here in washington. jeff shedsel has written a new book. it s about fdr s attempt to pack the supreme court in the 30s. some of the politics inside are so relevant to today. just to talk about the book briefly before we get into some of the news of the day, when you think about what fdr tried to do. he couldn t get the results he wanted out of the supreme court. his idea was, i ll appoint more justices and pack the court up to 15. can you imagine if a president tried to do that today. i don t think any president will try to do that today or at any point in the future. but roosevelt came to believe it was the only thing he possibly could do. he had a conservative supreme court trying down the discovery act, everybody thought social security was next.
