Photo by: Mike Damron – KPBS San Diego By Arturo Castañares Editor-at-Large A local governmental committee that has distributed over $200 million in tactical and surveillance equipment to police and fire agencies without public meetings and disclosures has now amended its charter to require itself to comply with state open meeting laws after a lawsuit filed by La Prensa San Diego exposed their secret meetings in December 2020. The Urban Area Working Group, known as UAWG, is a subcommittee of the San Diego County Unified Disaster Council (UDC) and is the “Approving Authority” to distribute federal Homeland Security grants to help local public safety agencies prepare for and respond to terrorist attacks.

Perth Lockdown Day 4 Recap: No New Cases, Post-Lockdown Plan Announcement Tonight Today was a quiet day and then a busy day on the Perth COVID-19 front. Earlier today Mark McGowan announced Western Australia had again recorded zero new local COVID-19 cases overnight, providing promising signs that Perth could come out of full lockdown on Friday after four consecutive days of zero local cases. A total of over 37,000 tests have been conducted over the duration of the Perth lockdown to date with still 0 new cases identified. Though Mr McGowan was quick to point out that things won’t be back straight away.
